Preventing Mold and UV Degradation
In Uganda’s humid climate, improper storage is the fastest way to destroy a PVC investment. The golden rule is total dryness. Even a small amount of trapped moisture can trigger mold growth in under 48 hours. Before storage, clean your panels with a mild, non-detergent soap, rinse thoroughly, and air-dry completely in a shaded area. Never dry PVC in direct, intense sunlight, as this can degrade the UV-resistant coating that keeps the fabric flexible.
Storage Conditions for Longevity
Once dry, store your fabric in a cool, dark, and well-ventilated warehouse. Elevated shelving is essential—keep your gear off the concrete floor to prevent moisture wicking and protect it from pests. If you are packing the tents away for the long term, avoid tight compression. Loosely folding or rolling the panels allows the material to “breathe” and prevents permanent creases that eventually become weak points for future tears.
